How to get there
Cicogna is not easy to get to, but that is part of its charm.

If approaching from the south, you can reach Verbania by motorways A26 from Genoa or A8 from Milan and exit at either Baveno or Gravellona Toce. Arriving from the north, take the SS 33 from Domodossola or SS 34 from Cannobio. The drive from Verbania to Cicogna (17km) takes approximately 30 minutes, travelling through S. Bernardino Verbano \ Santino. The road becomes narrow and winding for the last 8km, after passing the village of Rovegro. A small car is advisable for more manoeuvrability, particularly when passing cars travelling in the opposite direction. A tunnel along the way allows for a maximum vehicle clearance of 2.70m.
By Rail
On the Milan-Domodossola route, alight at Verbania Pallanza Station. A taxi can be arranged on request from here, to take you to Cicogna (approximately a ½ hour journey).

Fly to one of Milan's 3 airports: Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo. Malpensa is the nearest. It is advisable to hire a car from the airport for your convenience and for a flexible way to explore the area. The drive will take approximately 45 minutes from Malpensa to Verbania (approximately 1 ½ hours from Linate or Bergamo). Make your way to the A8 and reach Cicogna as above.
During the summer months there is a bus service from Malpensa airport to Verbania (reservation required). A taxi can be booked on request to drive you to Cicogna from either the airport or Verbania.
Note: There is a small bar restaurant in Cicogna but no shopping facilities. If you are planning to cook your own food, it is advisable to buy all necessary items prior to your arrival. The nearest grocery stores and supermarkets are in Verbania (17km).
